GULF SHORES, Ala. (WPMI) Even with a crucial $58 million in funding, a brand new beachfront lodge and convention center in Gulf State Park could take years to become a reality.
GULF SHORES, Ala. — As the month of May leads the area into the busy summer season, local businesses are gearing up for a campaign “It’s All About the Water.”
Finally, the hurdles to restoring an Alabama Gulf Coast landmark are starting to fall.
The Gulf State Park Hotel and Conference Center were obliterated by a direct hit from Hurricane Ivan in 2004. For a variety of reasons, the old hotel and conference site has been devoid of any structure since the hurricane made landfall with near 130 mph winds.

GULF SHORES, Ala. (WPMI) A USA Today article says you should visit Gulf Shores while it’s still cheap.
The newspaper put out the top 10 list on its website. It says the major draw for Gulf Shores is the white sand beaches and warm water.

GULF SHORES, Alabama — While temperatures have been far from springlike, the spring break season is under way along Alabama’s Gulf Coast with lifeguards back on duty, pay-to-park signs up and college students beginning to trickle into town.
When a four-lane highway between Interstate 10 and the Foley Beach Express is completed, the hope is that it makes travel to Baldwin County beaches easier.
But that is not the only the goal that Baldwin County officials have for the $85 million project called the Baldwin Beach Express.
